Förderverein zur Unterstützung der
Jährlich erkranken ca. 30 Kinder in Karlsruhe und Umgebung neu an Krebs. Die onkologische Abteilung (Station S24), die seit 1970 besteht, verfügt über 18 Betten, alles Einzelzimmer und zusätzlich 2 Isolierzimmer, weitere 30 Kinder werden ambulant betreut. Das Alter der erkrankten Kinder liegt zwischen wenigen Tagen nach der Geburt bis ins frühe Erwachsenenalter. Die Heilungschancen bei kindlichem Krebs sind in den letzten 25 Jahren deutlich verbessert worden, so dass bei einzelnen Erkrankungsarten Chancen von bis zu 80% bestehen.
